Retaining Walls

M+EG has performed geotechnical design and evaluation for all kinds of temporary and permanent retaining walls under both static and seismic conditions.  We have designed gravity walls and reinforced walls using various combinations of reinforcing and wall facing materials including but not limited to:
  • Lock-block wall
  • Cast-in-place (CIP) wall
  • Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) wall
  • Reinforced Earth (Sierra Slope)
  • Sheet pile wall and combined wall system
  • Soil-anchored wall
  • Concrete Diaphragm Wall (D-wall) for buried structures
Static and seismic lateral earth pressures are provided for structural design, if required.  For major projects, 2D non-linear dynamic analyses could be performed using the program FLAC to optimize the design in accordance with the required seismic performance.  M+EG’s technical staff has extensive knowledge in application of the geotechnical recommendations provided in the BCBC 2012, NBCC-2010/2014, CAN/CSA-S6-06/14, ASCE-7-05/10, AASHTO LRFD 2012/2014(Interim), Eurocode 7 and 8, and FHWA.
